Nauticus to Hold 529 Day
On Sunday, May 29, from noon to 5 p.m., visitors to Nauticus will receive a special rate of $5.29 in honor of 529 Day, a national celebration to raise awareness about saving for college.
The Virginia 529 College Savings Plan is an independent state agency which administers the Commonwealth's four tax-advantaged college savings programs. The plans are named after Section 529 of the Internal Revenue Service Code. Since 2009, the agency has celebrated 529 Day on May 29 (5/29), as a way to recognize the vital role higher education plays in the future of Virginia's children. Information about the program will be available at the Nauticus admissions desk. Keychains and other giveaways, including account opening coupons, will also be given out while supplies last.
529 Day 2011 will also take place at the Science Museum of Virginia in Richmond, as well as at participating hospitals, where babies born closest to 5:29 p.m. will receive a $529 Virginia 529 account.
