Nauticus to Host Free Professional Development Workshop for Teachers
Thanks to grant funds from The National Marine Sanctuary Foundation, area Earth Science and Biology teachers can participate in a free professional development workshop at Nauticus on Saturday, January 30. The program, Learning Ocean Science through Ocean Exploration, will take place from 8 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Distributed over a two-year period, the $25,000 grant, has funded a series designed to increase the ocean science literacy of local educators. Each workshop, which uses a curriculum developed by NOAA, is open to all Hampton Roads’ educators. The January 30 workshop will be led by Ocean Exploration Program Facilitator Elizabeth Day-Miller and will include inquiry and standards-based activities tied directly to ocean expeditions.
The day will also feature a tour for all attendees of the National Geographic Real Pirates exhibit located in the Half Moone Cruise and Celebration Center.
