Nauticus to Host Norfolk Public School Science Fair
Science fair projects from more than 120 Norfolk Public School students in the 3rd through 6th grades will be on display throughout Nauticus on Saturday, February 19, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Participants are from 35 elementary and 9 middle schools throughout Norfolk.
This is the 7th year Nauticus has hosted the NPS Science Fair. Categories include environmental science, health science, design technology and material science. Sixth grade students present Powerpoint slides rather than project boards. A diverse panel of judges evaluates each project, then awards trophies for 1st place and ribbons for 2nd and 3rd place in each category.
Peter Leighton, Nauticus Educator, will be the keynote speaker for this year’s fair. Nauticus educators will also offer “Science University” in Nauticus’ Education Alley featuring science demonstrations all day.
The public is welcome to view Science Fair entries as part of regular Nauticus admission, which also includes the Battleship Wisconsin. The cost is $11.95 for adults; $9.50 for children ages 4-12 and free for ages 3 and under. Stop by and enjoy a special scavenger hunt aboard the Wisconsin, plus enter to win a Nauticus family membership.
