Nauticus Seeks Volunteers!

Nauticus, downtown Norfolk’s premier waterfront attraction, is now accepting applications for its 2011 Summer Volunteer Program. Volunteers receive a variety of benefits based on hours of service, plus gain valuable work experience at a friendly, busy tourist attraction.

Volunteering at Nauticus offers a variety of experiences and the opportunity to learn many new skills. Whether helping guests explore maritime science and history, guiding groups through the interior of the Battleship Wisconsin, providing support behind the scenes in our offices or helping someone find the perfect souvenir in the gift shop; volunteers are a valuable part of the Nauticus staff.

“Nauticus volunteer opportunities give everyone in the Hampton Roads community a chance to get involved. Adults bring their subject matter expertise, and students can get first-hand practical experience working alongside our professional staff in a museum environment,” said Nauticus volunteer coordinator Juli Mansfield.

Prospective volunteers should submit a volunteer application, available on the Nauticus website at http://www.nauticus.org/get-involved/join-our-crew. The deadline for summer volunteer applicants is April 22, and positions on the battleship may be applied for all year long.
