Practice Problems - Net Ionic Equations
Show total ionic & net ionic results for the following problems. If you end up with only spectator ions, show this with "no reaction". Make sure each equation is balanced before proceeding. You'll find a set of rules for solubility at the end of this tutorial.
Please complete the following reactions, and show the total ionic and net ionic forms of the equation:
Rules for Solubility:
- All compounds of Group I and NH4+ are soluble.
- All chlorates, nitrates, and acetates are soluble.
- All compounds of halogens (except fluorine) and metals are soluble, (except lead, mercury(I), & silver).
- All sulfates are soluble, except strontium, barium, lead, calcium, mercury (I), and silver.
- Except for rule 1, hydroxides, oxides, carbonates, phosphates, and silicates are insoluble.
- Sulfides are all insoluble except for calcium, barium, strontium, magnesium, sodium, potassium, and ammonium.
