Student Pages - Lesson 4 - Activity 1: The Effects of Air Temperature On Air Pressure

Return To Index

1. When you have completed your experiments, join your group and use the internet to find additional information about how the following cause changes in the weather: Greenhouse Effect, Gulf stream temperatures, and cloud forcing.

Be prepared to share your results with the class.

2. Follow these links to collect live weather data for each of the cities listed in the lesson plan:

Create a spreadsheet to display your results. Here are some suggested headings for your spreadsheet:
Region, Temperature, Barometric Pressure, Weather Prediction

3. Working with your group, discuss air pressure and molecular movement in each set. Are the molecules moving slow or fast, close together or far apart? Is the air pressure heavy or light? Discuss which air pressure pattern goes with which temperature pattern. Write the summary of your results in your journal.
