Q: What is Nauticus?
Nauticus is an exciting interactive science and technology center that explores the naval, economic, and nautical power of the sea. Home of the Battleship Wisconsin, Nauticus features Battleship Wisconsin-related exhibits, hands-on exhibits, national-caliber traveling exhibits, HD films on a giant screen, shark petting, the Hampton Roads Naval Museum, and more!
Q: How long does it take to tour Nauticus?
You should plan to spend 2 to 3 hours to tour the Hampton Roads Naval Museum and the third floor of Nauticus. 3 to 4 hours if you include the Battleship Wisconsin.
Q: What is the price of admission?
Admission price includes Hi-Def movies "The Living Sea" and "Gateway To The World".

Q: Do you offer gift certificates?
Yes. Gift certificates are available from the Banana Pier Gift Shop. For more information, email

Q: Do you offer special rates for groups?
- A minimum of 15 paid guests are required to receive the Nauticus group rate.
- Reservations are required in advance. To make a reservation or for more information about the Nauticus Group Tour Program, call (757) 664-1074 or (800) 664-1080, ext. 41074.
- A $25 non-refundable deposit is required two weeks prior to the reservation date. A final group count is due 48-hours in advance. Balance is due upon arrival. Nauticus accepts checks (payable to Nauticus), Visa, Mastercard, and American Express.
- In case of cancellation, notice must be received one week in advance or the organization will be billed for the entire cost of the tour.
- Nauticus provides two complimentary admission tickets per motorcoach. For student groups, we recommend at least one adult chaperone per ten children.
- Please allow 3 to 3 1/2 hours for your visit.
- Complimentary parking is available at Harbor Park (six blocks away).

Q: What are your hours of operation?
- Nauticus Hours:
- Memorial Day - Labor Day: Open 7 days a week, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
- Rest of the year: Closed Mondays, Open Tuesday - Saturday, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.; Sunday, Noon - 5 p.m.
- Nauticus and the Battleship Wisconsin are closed New Year's Eve, New Year's Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day. Please call for other holiday hours.
- Battleship Wisconsin Winter Hours:
- Tuesday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Sunday Noon - 5 p.m.
- Closing procedures begin 15 minutes before close and the ship will be closed in the event of inclement weather.

Q: Where do we park once we arrive?
Hourly garage parking is available at MacArthur Center Mall or at several nearby City of Norfolk parking garages. Visit the
City of Norfolk's Parking Department for more information.
Q: What is the schedule for the NET Bus and does it stop at Nauticus?
The NET bus schedule is Monday-Friday, 6:30am-11:00 pm; Saturday, Noon-Midnight; Sunday, Noon-8:00 pm and runs every 6 to 18 minutes. The NET bus stops directly in front of Nauticus on the weekends and one block away on Main Street on weekdays. For more detailed information and maps please visit the

Q: Is your facility accessible to persons with disabilities?
Yes. We offer the following:
- Wheelchair accessibility throughout the building and on board the main deck of the Battleship Wisconsin
- Five on-site handicapped-reserved parking spaces (Handicapped parking is unavailable on cruise ship days.)
- Wheelchairs for guests available on a first-come, first-served basis
- Handicapped-reserved spaces in the Nauticus Theater, Aegis and in Design Chamber: Battleship X.
- Exhibit and movie scripts are available upon request. (check out at the admissions desk)
- Assisted listening devices available upon request in Nauticus theater. (Please let the theater staff know prior to show starting that you will require the ALD.)
- Audio Tours for the Battleship Wisconsin are available. (check out at the admissions desk).
- The Living Sea is available with Open Captioning upon request for any regularly scheduled show time. Please inquire at the admissions desk upon arrival.
- Sign Language interpreters can be provided with a minimum of two-weeks notice. Please call The Director of Visitor Operations a 757-664-1019 to place a request or the Group Sales Manager at 757-664-1021 for a group visit of 15 or more people.

Q: I am a teacher, can we have a program at our school?
Yes. You can experience the wonders of science in your facility by scheduling an exciting Science SOL-based Nauticus Outreach program. All of our programs are hands-on, educational and fun! They have been designed to teach your students about basic scientific concepts and their applications in the real world. For more information, visit these pages:
Q: How much does it cost to hold a special event at Nauticus?
There's no place like Nauticus at Night. With three decks of open exhibit space, a 350-seat theater perfect for presentations, a 2,000-square foot deck overlooking the Battleship Wisconsin, and the covered outdoor Elizabeth River Pavilion, Nauticus can accommodate nearly any size group for a wide range of spectacular indoor and outdoor events throughout the year. Selecting the location for your event is easy. Just start with the number of guests you expect and choose the area in which you're interested. Rates are based on a three-hour evening event, with additional time available at an additional cost. Rates include exhibits in your rental area as well as set-up, clean-up time, staff, tables, chairs and linens to accommodate 200 guests.

Q: Do you have an IMAX theater?
No. The Nauticus theater shows large format HD films on a 50 x 24 foot screen in glorious High Definition. Recent upgrades to the Nauticus Theater include a Christie CP2000 digital High Definition DLP projector (1 of only 10 in use in the United States and the only one in our tri-state area), an EVS Airbox High Definition video server (the same servers used to broadcast the Olympics in High Definition) and Lexicon and Symetrix digital audio processors.
Q: What movies do you show and what are the show times?
The movies shown in our theater are constantly changing. We offer limited run movies that are shown to the general public for an additional fee. We also offer "USS
Wisconsin: The Last Battleship" for groups and tours with advanced reservation.

Q: Do you have a gift shop at Nauticus?
Yes. The Banana Pier Gift shop is located on the first floor of Nauticus. With more than 3,000 square-feet of shopping space, the Banana Pier Gift Shop is filled with a wide selection of nautical souvenirs, apparel, books, toys, home décor items and of course a large selection of Battleship Wisconsin merchandise!

Q: Is there a fee to visit the Battleship Wisconsin or Naval Museum?
There is no charge to visit The Hampton Roads Naval Museum, located on the second floor of Nauticus, or the adjacent Battleship Wisconsin.
Q: Can I have my military ceremony on the Battleship Wisconsin?
HRNM offers space in the museum and on the ship at no charge for these official ceremonies. You MUST contact the Hampton Roads Naval Museum at 757-322-2987 or email

Q: Can we tour the inside of the USS Wisconsin?
Unfortunately, no. Due to the ship's mobilization status, no one (general public or military) is allowed inside the ship.

Unfortunately, no. The cruise ship is in dock to load and unload passengers only. You may visit
