This year's topics will be:

For Ages 6-8:

HANGIN' OUT WITH THE HORSESHOE CRABS - What's it like to live in the life of a horseshoe crab? We’ll find out by feeding the crabs lunch, learning how they crawl around with their many legs, studying the water they live in, meeting some of their fellow tidepool buddies and even discovering how they can help us with medical research!

  • Cost: $175 Nauticus members; $200 Non-members; $10 per day or $40 per week for extended hours (no extended care on Friday due to Family program)
  • Hours: Regular Hours - 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.; Extended Hours - 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
  • Dates: June 28 - July 2
  • Maximum number of campers: 20

WACKY WORLD OF SCIENCE - Welcome to Nauticus' Wacky World of Science! We'll blow bubbles with dry ice, count the planets and stars, tour the Battleship Wisconsin, recycle paper, predict the weather, build underwater robots, and even eat "dirt"!

  • Cost: $175 Nauticus members; $200 Non-members; $10 per day or $40 per week for extended hours (no extended care on Friday due to Family program)
  • Hours: Regular Hours - 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.; Extended Hours - 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
  • Dates: July 12-16
  • Maximum number of campers: 20

SHIPS AHOY - Come sail with us! We'll build boats, study shipwrecks, live as pirates for a day, tour the Battleship Wisconsin, explore the Elizabeth River Harbor, and even take a field trip to the Portsmouth Lightship Museum!

  • Cost: $175 Nauticus members; $200 Non-members; $10 per day or $40 per week for extended hours (no extended care on Friday due to Family program)
  • Hours: Regular Hours - 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.; Extended Hours - 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
  • Dates: July 26 - 30

For Ages 9-12:

EXPLORING THE BAY KAYAK CAMP WITH CHESAPEAKE EXPERIENCE - Discover the Chesapeake Bay by kayak! We'll paddle to different areas of our local watershed such as Lakewood Park in Norfolk, First Landing State Park in Virginia Beach, and Back Creek Park in Yorktown. While there, we'll go crabbing, seine netting, conducting water chemistry analyses, identifying local flora and fauna.

  • Cost: $250 Nauticus members; $275 Non-members
  • Hours: 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.; until 4 p.m. on Friday due to an extended field trip
  • Dates: July 5 - 9
  • Maximum number of campers: 12

HURRICANE HUNTERS - Are you ready for Hurricane Season? We’ll prepare you for these dangerous storms by meeting television, NOAA, and Navy meteorologists, learning what goes in your family emergency pack, exploring shipwrecks caused by hurricanes, solving a crime using "hurricane forensics" and taking a field trip to our Oceanview beach to discover damage to both our natural and man-made structures!

  • Cost: $250 Nauticus members; $275 Non-members
  • Hours: 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
  • Dates: July 19-23
  • Maximum number of campers: 12

For Ages 13-15:

WATER SCHOLARS OCEANOGRAPHY CAMP - Explore the science of Oceanography while learning about ocean-related careers, water chemistry, charting, underwater topography and aquatic life. We'll explore the Chesapeake Bay by boat and kayak, see the "Restless Planet" at the Virginia Aquarium, have fun seining and identifying local fish at the beach, dissect a sea creature, build underwater robots and even take part in an overnight!

  • Cost: $300 members; $325 non-members
  • Hours: 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m.; except for the overnight on Thursday
  • Dates: August 2-6
  • Maximum number of campers: 12
