How did our shop get its name?
The old Banana Pier, the site on which Nauticus was built, was so named because for years, ships from South America unloaded their cargoes of fruit here. Once a part of the old Merchants & Miners Transportation Co. operation and later the West India Fruit & Steamship company, the Banana Pier dates back to the late 1870s.
